Beyond the basic Intranet home page are internal departments like IT, HR, Marketing and others. SharePoint Team sites or Microsoft Teams is great for peer to peer staff collaboration, but does nothing for employee self-service. Why not enhance it by adding an Employee Self-Service Portal for their internal customers - employees. Like a bank branch for banking customers, service portals provide a place for employees to access resources, information and services from a department.
SharePoint Department includes:
As part of SharePoint Self-Service Intranet Structure, SharePoint Departments provides a consistent, intuitive approach to internal services. Go beyond simple team document sharing in a teams site to a full self-service department portal.
Establish a consistent internal structure across departments:
The Employee Portal is a secure page provided as an information and service point for employees who the department provides services for. It is designed to drive self-service and reduce the need for email or calls with the department staff.
From here an employee can find answers to questions (KB and FAQ), see the latest communications, find documents or other resources and if needed submit a service request. It can easily be customized (no code change) with links to applications, or additional lists or libraries.
The Staff Portal is a secure area on the site to organize department resources, activities and resources. From the Home Page of the Department, staff members can see department communications and calendar, access share documents and files, search a knowledge base and manage service requests. Activities and work can be tracked through a shared task list or use Planner as part of the Staff Team or Group
Departments can also manage their own content (news, announcement, events, etc) using a content manager dashboard and choose to promote the content to the Intranet Home page.
From myWorkSpace, staff members can see from a single place all tasks assigned to them, email, documents, service requests and their OneDrive. If it is a Team or Group site, all Group resources are available.
A department dashboard is pre-built using Power BI for reporting on Service Requests. Add lists or libraries to turn SHAREPOINT Departments into a Safety Department, Legal Department, Marketing and more! Go beyond basic document sharing to unleash staff productivity and improve service.
SHAREPOINT Department Portals provides a rubust SharePoint department site to deploy a custom operational portal for any department. It is 100% customizable using the standard SharePoint power user web interface.
